THE POSITION
Are you an organized and motivated person who enjoys analytical tasks and excels in administrative work? If so, the Department of Education is seeking a dedicated candidate with excellent communication skills and a teamwork mentality to come aboard as an Administrative Assistant 1. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As an Administrative Assistant 1, you will provide a full range of administrative and clerical functions to the Bureau of Career and Technical Education (BCTE) and perform administrative activities on behalf of the Data Analysis, Assessment and Contracts (DAAC) Division, the Professional Development and Support Services (PDSS) Division, the Adult and Postsecondary Division, and the Program Standards and Quality Assurance (PSQA) Division.
Work involves the use of independent research, study, and strong analytical skills to ensure that the operational goals of the bureau are completed in a timely and efficient manner.

Some specific duties include preparing and processing travel applications and training authorizations, and reviewing, editing, and uploading documents, presentations, and Penn Links to Press and Communications approval portal as the BCTE liaison. You will also work with the DAAC Division Manager to facilitate Perkins contract processing, in addition to working with the PSQA Division Manager to facilitate Approved Program Technical Evaluation (APTE) processing. We are looking for someone who can communicate effectively and establish productive working relationships with administrative officials, other employees, and the public.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, however you must report to the office every Wednesday. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four year college or university; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
