Job description
Job Summary:
The Logistics Generalist performs a wide range of activities in support of the efficient operation of the Logistics Division.

The Generalist receives mail and shipments, inspects goods for completeness, damage, or other irregularities and ensures that incoming items arrive in a timely manner to their final destination. The incumbent processes outgoing domestic and international mail through Canada Post, and various couriers, ensuring proper shipping, customs, and insurance forms are completed. The Generalist troubleshoots and resolves discrepancies that are identified in incoming and outgoing mail and shipments.

The Generalist gathers and distributes heavy, valuable, hazardous, cumbersome and fragile items and confidential documents to various destinations. The incumbent provides support for institutional events by delivering and returning equipment and supplies and helping with set up and take down.

Qualifications:
Completion of a recognized one-year certificate program in logistics or Supply Chain.
Minimum two (2) years of experience in a logistics environment.
Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license with good driving record.
WHMIS certification required.
Hazardous Material (Hazmat) training required.
Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certification with Class 7 Radioactive required.
Knowledge of shipping/receiving practices.
Computer skills required including MS Office.
Experience with databases and spreadsheets.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Duties require a moderate degree of physical exertion including bending down, kneeling, pulling, pushing, manually carrying, lifting & transporting heavy objects.
Ability to lift 40-50 pounds.
